About the Author-
Arthur Schopenhauer (Danzig, actual Gdansk, Polonia, 1788 - Fráncfort, Alemania, 1860). Fue hijo de un rico comerciante que se trasladó con su familia a Hamburgo cuando Danzig cayó en manos de los prusianos, en 1793. Contemporáneo de otros grandes pensadores como Goethe, Fichte o Schleiermacher, desarrolló una filosofía postkantiana que a día de hoy mantiene una gran influencia, y que fue muy significativa en el pensamiento de otros filósofos como Nietzsche o Freud. Influido por el orientalista Friedrich Majer, su estudio de la filosofía hindú y del budismo influyó en el desarrollo de sus tesis, adoptando conceptos como el nirvana y la negación del deseo para complementar su percepción de lo que él llamaba "la voluntad", la naturaleza innata experimentada y adoptada por cada ser en el tiempo y en el espacio. Elena Ferrándiz vivió su infancia en San Fernando, Cádiz, rodeada de lápices de colores. Estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Sevilla y desde entonces ha trabajado como ilustradora para numerosas editoriales y publicaciones. Asimismo ha publicado varios libros ilustrados de los que es también autora.
