About the Author-
For over 30 years, Jailan Abbas has thrived as a teacher, educator, and mentor of Egyptian history, civilization and culture, choosing to teach in her Ph.D. specialization. Abbas is a renowned author with several English and Arabic publications for adults and children. One of her most prominent publications is the English Egyptian culture curriculum she created; these books for students and teachers cover from kindergarten to grade five. Abbas is a very vocal and active voice; she regularly gives lectures across Egypt through various organizations, NGOs, schools, and universities. She has also participated in numerous conferences and workshops internationally and in Egypt."My passion is Egyptian culture, and I always strive to share it with my students whom I hope to imbue with this same love." She believes Egypt is a place full of stories worth telling so that children across the world can learn about Egyptian heritage and culture. "There is no better means of conveying our culture than through picture books."
